Four ways into the sport, from a two year old on a balance bike to an adult on a cruiser. Pricing and dates below are kept current by the people who run the track.

Balance Bikes
Racing for ages 2 and up on bikes with no pedals. Same start hill, same gate, a shorter course and their own motos.
- Ages
- Ages 2 and up
- Price
- $5 to race. $5 practice.
- When
- Every race night and practice night
Balance bike racing is where most of our riders begin. Riders push with their feet, coast down the start hill and roll through a shortened course on the first straight. They get a number plate, a moto sheet entry and a gate call, just like the older kids.
Who it is for. Any child who can ride a balance bike with confidence, usually ages 2 to 5. Many move to a pedal bike and the Novice class around age 5 or 6.
What to bring. A balance bike, a helmet, long sleeves, long pants and closed toe shoes. A full face helmet is strongly recommended.
How to participate. Come to any race night or practice. Sign in at the registration window and tell them your rider is on a balance bike. A USA BMX membership is required for insurance, available at the window.

Racing & Practice
Weekly local racing on Tuesday and Saturday nights, open practice on Thursday. Novice through Expert, plus Cruiser.
- Ages
- Ages 5 through adult
- Price
- $15 pedal bike racing. $5 practice.
- When
- Race nights Tuesday and Saturday. Practice Thursday.
Practice is open track time. No motos, no scoring. Ride the start hill, take gate starts, session a rhythm section or a turn until it clicks. Thursday practice runs two hours and is the best night for a first visit. Race nights also open with an hour of practice during registration.
Racing is the real thing. Registration closes, moto sheets go up on the board, and riders are grouped by age and class. Everyone races three motos a night. Points from local races count toward USA BMX state and national standings.
Classes. Novice is where every rider starts. Intermediate and Expert are earned with wins. Cruiser is a 24 inch wheel class that runs alongside your main class, and it is where a lot of parents race.
A USA BMX membership is required to be on the track for practice or racing. Buy it online at usabmx.com or at the registration window.

Beginner Clinics & Leagues
Structured sessions for riders who want to learn the basics with a coach before, or alongside, their first races. Dates and pricing are announced on the schedule.
- Ages
- Ages 5 and up

- Announced per session

Clinics teach the skills a rider needs to feel confident on a race night: gate starts, pedaling through the first straight, pumping rollers and holding a line through a turn. Sessions are small, run by people who race, and built for first and second season riders.
A beginner league is a short series of race nights where new riders compete only against other new riders. It is the gentlest way into real racing.
Dates, pricing and sign up details are posted on the schedule when a session is open. Use the inquiry form to be notified about the next one.

Special Events & Clinics
Themed race nights, skills sessions with visiting coaches, community partner events and the big one, the 2027 USA BMX Gold Cup.
- Ages
- All ages
- Price
- Varies by event

Special events are how the track grows. A themed race night brings out families who have never been to the track. A skills session with a visiting pro gives local riders something they cannot get anywhere else in Memphis. Partner events with schools, bike shops and community groups put new kids on bikes.
Every special event is listed on the schedule with its own details, pricing and registration method. Major races get a full event page.
